Description

This project involves the design, financing, engineering, construction, operation, and maintenance of a 584 MW greenfield gas-fired combined-cycle gas turbine (CCGT) plant on a Build-Own-Operate (BOO) basis. The project company is Unique Meghnaghat Power Limited, sponsored by Unique Hotel & Resorts Limited, Strategic Finance Limited, GE Capital Global Energy Investments B.V and Nebras Power Investment Management B.V. The produced energy is planned to be sold to People’s Republic of Bangladesh and Power Grid Company of Bangladesh. A PPA was signed with Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) and the offtaker of the gas production is Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Limited (TGTDCL). All the agreements are signed for a period of 22 years. The project will be financed in a debt-to-equity ratio of 75:25 and total investment stands at $613 million, of which $110 million loan is provided by the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) and $350 million is provided by DEG (part of KfW), OPEC Fund and Standard Chartered Bank.
