The 22 kilometre roadway that is CityLink is comprised of the Western Link and the Southern Link.The Western Link is made up of an upgrade to the Tullamarine Freeway between Bulla Road and Flemington Road (now eight lanes), a six lane elevated road through West Melbourne and a connecting bridge over the Yarra River to the West Gate Freeway.The Southern Link comprises two three-lane tunnels, the Burnley and the Domain Tunnels (3.4 kilometres and 1.6 kilometres long, respectively) which run underneath the Yarra River, and an upgrade to the previous freeway (now five and six lanes) between the city and the city-end of the Monash Freeway, near Toorak Road.A variation of the agreement introduced in April 2015 will add extra lanes in each direction between the Bolte Bridge and Melbourne Airport, as well as extra lanes on the Bolte Bridge and a section of the West Gate Freeway (eastbound) between Bolte Bridge and Power Street. It also add a Freeway Management System.
