Description

Description

Migrant Memories // Mémoire Migrante aims to rebuild a common cross-border identity, focussed on dialogue, hospitality, exchange and practical experience, an identity that knows the benefits of diversity and of European Citizenship. It borns from the will of two newly twinned countries, Monterosso Grana (IT, 528 inhabitants) and Bar-sur-Loup (FR, 2.850 inhabitants) to rebuild their common history, made of work and migratory dynamics between the Grana Valley (IT) and the hinterland of the French Riviera (FR). Driven by the theme of migration, we want to reflect about how much this can still refer to contemporaneity and to what extent it can involve/influence men and women in order to add some more useful data for the integration of non-discrimination, both in the domains of work and life. The actions include an active approach to memory, a tool to increase understanding between old and new inhabitants of the territories. Research operations will be transformed into actions with a concrete impact on society: bonds, comprehension, friendship. A fundamental step to promote the awareness of the local and global challenges that present times lead us to face, both on a social and environmental level, in order to face them as a single European Community Proposed activities are those of research and cultural exchange at multiple levels, disseminated through thematic micro-conferences, meant for producers, associations and local decision makers (about 160 people), intercultural workshops for 55 elementary school students and an activity of valorisation and publishing of an archival nature. The activities, developed over 12 months, in 4 macro-events of major visibility and dialogue (Twinning Celebration, Fête de l’oranger, School class exchange, Cultural Village) will be able to provide the basis for the birth of new connections and of a critical sensitivity among the inhabitants involved, especially with regard to current events.
