Description | Memve'ele Hydroelectric Power Station is a 211-megawatt hydroelectric power station located in the Ntem Valley locality in Cameroon's South Region. Constructed by Sinohydro, the project has significantly alleviated Cameroon's power shortage by utilizing abundant water resources. It was officially handed over to Cameroonian authorities for operation in October 2024 and supplies electricity to the capital Yaounde and other areas. As of mid-2024, it created over 3,000 jobs and trained nearly 1,500 local workers and managers. By the first half of 2025, the total power generation exceeded 3.85 billion kilowatt-hours, with an annual output of one billion kilowatt-hours. |
