MERIT Project for Ukraine's Energy Security with Miscanthus Biomass

The MERIT (Miscanthus Evaluation for Resilience, Innovation and Transformation) project aims to help Ukraine recover its energy security and rebuild a sustainable, low-carbon energy system by growing Miscanthus on abandoned and contaminated land. The project will supply biomass to small to medium-scale power plants, decentralizing energy infrastructure and providing raw materials for the domestic building materials sector. It supports Ukraine's transition to a secure, low-carbon economy, creates jobs, sequesters carbon, restores contaminated land, and promotes social inclusion.
