Description | The project involves the development of a 306-MW wind farm located in Tamaulipas state. Eólica Mesa La Paz, S. de R.L. de C.V is the SPV that is undertaking the project on behalf of the sponsors - AES Corporation and Grupo Bal, each holding 50% stake. This is a greenfield project launched under the license scheme modality. The project has a corporate 25-year PPA with local industrial conglomerate Industria Peñoles, starting on April 2020. The PPA covers 80% of the energy that will be produced at the wind farm. Project is expected to cost some $580.2 million. Financing comprises $440.2 million in debt, and roughly $140 million in equity. Debt raised for the project includes three facilities - $304 million in notes (arranged by BNP Paribas and JP Morgan), $73 million in credit facilities provided by BNP Paribas and JP Morgan; $63 million in working capital provided by Bancomext.
