Description | The MESH CAES project is planned to be the world's largest compressed air energy storage facility, located in the East Irish Sea and Barrow-in-Furness. It is expected to have around 300 MW of power capacity and 55.2 GWh of storage capacity, providing more than seven days of sustained power output. The project will use surplus grid and offshore wind power to compress air into large offshore salt caverns, releasing it to generate dispatchable power when needed. |
