Description
Description | A $1 billion hyperscale data center project backed by Meta (Facebook and Instagram owner) is proposed to be built on more than 1,000 acres of mostly agricultural land in Howell Township, Michigan. The project aims to power artificial intelligence and cloud computing, promising tax revenue, jobs, and funding opportunities for schools and community services. However, residents have expressed strong opposition due to concerns about loss of rural land, environmental impact, water resources, and electricity rates. The township board has enacted a six-month moratorium on data center approvals to investigate regulations, but a rezoning vote is scheduled for December 8, 2025. |
