Description | Tech giant Meta signed a deal to acquire around 1 gigawatt of solar power to support its growing AI ambitions. This deal adds to Meta's total solar purchases of over 3 gigawatts this year. The projects include two agreements in Louisiana for 385 megawatts of electricity environmental attributes and a 600 megawatt solar farm near Lubbock, Texas. Both projects are expected to be operational in 2027. The Texas solar farm will supply energy to the local grid to offset energy used by Meta's data centers, while the Louisiana agreements involve purchasing Environmental Attribute Certificates to offset reliance on carbon-intensive power sources. |
