Description | Meta plans to invest over US$9.1 billion to build its first artificial intelligence data center in Canada, located in Sturgeon County, Alberta. This will be Meta's largest AI data center outside the United States. The facility will be powered by a 932-megawatt natural gas-fired power plant developed by a consortium including Pembina Pipeline Ltd. The data center will use a closed-loop cooling system that does not draw water from surrounding sources. Meta also plans to invest US$42 million in local infrastructure such as roads and water systems. |
