Meta Data Center Energy Infrastructure Expansion

Entergy, the regional monopoly utility in Louisiana, is proposing to build more than $3 billion worth of new gas-fired power plants and delivery infrastructure to meet the energy demand of a Meta data center under development in northeastern Louisiana. The project aims to supply the massive electricity needs of the data center, which is projected to use twice as much energy as the city of New Orleans. The costs are proposed to be included in rates paid by all customers rather than billed directly to Meta.
