Meta Data Center Power Infrastructure Expansion

Entergy, the regional monopoly utility in Louisiana, is proposing to build more than $3 billion worth of new gas-fired power plants and delivery infrastructure to meet the energy demand of a Meta data center under development in northeastern Louisiana. The data center is projected to use twice as much energy as the city of New Orleans. The utility plans to include the costs in rates paid by all customers rather than billing Meta directly, with some contract terms kept secret from the public.
