Meta El Paso Data Center Expansion

Meta Platforms is expanding its data center project in El Paso, increasing the facility's planned capacity to 1 gigawatt and boosting its total investment from $8 billion to more than $10 billion. The project originally broke ground last year, with construction activity expected to ramp up significantly. The facility will use a closed-loop liquid cooling system to recirculate water and operate with zero water use for most of the year. Meta is coordinating with El Paso Water and El Paso Electric to meet water and power demands, including adding renewable energy generation to offset 100% of the data center's electricity use.
