This expansion nearly doubles the initial planned investment from $27 billion to $50 billion. The project faces challenges including memory shortages, cooling, power supply, and community pushback. The first 2 gigawatts are expected to be fully operational by 2030, with the additional 3 gigawatts coming years later. Meta plans to invest over $1 billion in local infrastructure such as roads, water, and wastewater systems as part of the project. |
