Meta Platforms Data Center and Natural Gas Capacity Expansion with Entergy

Meta Platforms has selected Entergy for a large data center project in Northeast Louisiana, including backing new natural gas capacity. The project involves Entergy adding seven new natural gas-fueled combined-cycle power plants totaling more than 5,200 megawatts, with capabilities for future carbon capture and hydrogen co-firing, along with 240 miles of new 500 kV transmission lines, multiple battery storage sites, nuclear uprates, and support for up to 2,500 megawatts of new solar resources. This infrastructure supports the AI market growth and aims to deliver about $2 billion in customer savings over 20 years, with Meta covering the full cost of service.
