Description | Meta is planning to build its first Canadian data centre in Sturgeon County, Alberta. The project represents more than $13 billion in investment, expected to create over 3,000 construction jobs and 300 operational jobs. It includes a 1 GW data center combining grid-connected electricity with new on-site natural gas generation, with Meta funding the new generation and grid infrastructure. The data centre will use a closed-loop, liquid-cooled system with dry cooling to minimize water use. Meta is also investing about $60 million into local infrastructure such as roads and water systems. |
