Description | Meta is investing over US$9 billion to develop a 1 gigawatt artificial intelligence campus in Sturgeon County, Alberta, Canada. The project includes securing power and transmission infrastructure years in advance, fully funding new generation and grid infrastructure to support the data center, and using closed-loop liquid cooling to eliminate operational water use for cooling. The campus is expected to create approximately 3,000 construction jobs at peak and over 300 permanent positions, with an additional investment of around US$42.3 million in local road and water infrastructure. |
