Description
Description | METAVENUES is a cooperation project of 3 European partners who have the shared vision of a new, future-proof role for European performing arts venues as an intermediary between artists and audiences in both the physical, hybrid, and online spheres. The project aims to re-evaluate the value model of the performing arts venues, to define the new role of venues in the digital age based on the competencies that new technology trends require. But venues do not operate in a vacuum and work in an intricate interplay between audience, artists, and performing arts professionals. All these groups are impacted by new technological trends. To this end, METAVENUES brings together all these groups in a research and pilot project, with a holistic and practical design-thinking approach to come up with useful prototypes for European performing arts venues. The activities follow are: 1.Think tank with artists, audience members and arts professional, discussing technology trends, best practices of venues, new performance and audience formats and the thereof for each target group, resulting in a cohesive report compiling all input. 2. A Living Lab: a user-centred open innovation ecosystem taking place in a venue to come up with, design and develop, record and produce several prototypes 3. Test phase: testing the most promising prototypes in the participating venues, or a virtual setting (Metaverse) by presenting them to target groups and testing them in practice. This is followed by an evaluation phase where we will come to a preliminary conclusion on the role and necessities for the performing arts venue of the future. |
