Metchosin - Community Wellness Infrastructure Project

The project will repair, retrofit and renovate an existing facility and grounds owned by the municipality. In an effort to maintain priorities of the District of Metchosin’s OCP, the municipality purchased a decommissioned elementary school. The Community Wellness Infrastructure Project has since been designed, to create a facility that the public can access with adequate room for social distancing. Metchosin is a small rural area, along with the neighbouring Sc’ianew First Nation. There are very few local resources and no commercial infrastructure to draw upon for funding. This project has multiple uses and will support day-to-day living, working and interactions within the community. This project will help lessen the impact of COVID on the community, especially the eldery and children. The project works include: -kitchen renovations and ventilation systems; -Gymnasium stage and curtain repairs and renovations, partitions, flooring, LED lighting, general renovations and repairs, acoustics and sound system; -upgrade windows; -upgrade exterior doors; -retrofit exterior lighting; -upgrade LED interior lighting; and, - all related works.
