Description | The Project Company is Metallurgical Commercial Bank, OJSC (“Metcombank” or the “Bank”), a small private bank located in the city of Cherepovetz. The Bank was founded in 1990. In 2008 the Bank adopted a new strategy aimed at building a top financial institution with diversified funding base and focus on retail and SME lending. The proposed Project is a combination of (i) an equity investment in Metcombank; (ii) a senior loan; (iii) a trade finance line. By taking equity stake in the Bank IFC would help the Bank implement its revised strategy. The purpose of the senior loan is to support the Bank’s expansion of SME business, thus increasing access to finance for SMEs in the less developed regions of Russia. Trade finance line is aimed at enhancing the Bank’s trade finance business. |
