Methodological, quality and transmission improvements to ESA data – Projects 1, 2, 7 and 11

The grant is requested for several projects regarding the continuous improvement of the quality of NA data and the transparency of the sources and methods used to compile them. Related to preparations for the next update of the European System of National Accounts a priority is to test the implementation of estimates for key 2025 SNA accounts. Project 1: Developing compilation methods and data sources relating to the ESA update as concerns Data as an Asset. The main objective of the project is to implement this new asset category according to recommendations from the handbook on measuring data in the SNA. This includes research for (existing) data, developing estimates and assessing the quality of the estimates. Project 2: Developing compilation methods and data sources relating to the ESA update as concerns Natural Resources. The overarching objective of this project is to explore the possibilities of compiling natural resource accounts for Austria in accordance with the revised international guidelines of the 2025 SNA and to conduct a pilot compilation for selected relevant resource types. Project 7: Improving transparency to users by documenting sources and methods used for the compilation of national accounts data in inventories. The objective of this project is the update of two inventories following the 2024 benchmark revision: Quarterly national accounts and Regional accounts. Project 11: Enhancing the accuracy, timeliness and granularity of supply and use tables. The main objective of the project is the research for existing data sources from basic statistics and National accounts data and implementation of a matrix balancing tool to calculate Supply and Use tables at t+24.
