The growing importance of data and its role in production has been formally recognized within the framework of national accounts, which acknowledges this through the recent inclusion of data as a new asset type in the updated System of National Accounts (SNA). In parallel with the update of the SNA, the revision of the European System of Accounts (ESA) has also begun. With a strong emphasis on ensuring international comparability, the revised ESA is set to incorporate most of the innovations introduced in the updated SNA. As a result, the implementation of the new ESA framework will make the transmission of several new data sets – including data as an asset – mandatory. Hungary, based on the available methodological handbook, prepares the estimates of data in accordance with the standard recommendations. These estimates will include GFCF of data at both current and constant prices, as well as stock data presented in a time series of at least five years.
