Description

Description

The project is aimed at improving further the quality and methodological infrastructure of National Accounts in the field of GNI estimation and harmonising the GNI data submitted to the EU for budgetary purposes. The project comprises of three Work Packages: Work Package 1: Project Management and Coordination Work Package 2: Developing compilation methods and data sources relating to the ESA update as concerns Data as an Asset. In the 2025 SNA, the information content of electronic data collected and used in production is included in the asset boundary, as a new asset category – data – under (produced) fixed assets. This change is expected to have a significant impact on the level of GDP and GNI and possibly also on growth rates. Work Package 3: Further improving the quality and methodological infrastructure of National Accounts in the field of GNI estimation and harmonising the GNI data submitted to the EU for budgetary purposes - Addressing the Transversal Reservation 2 on Treatment of non-resident VAT traders. The project includes development of methodology that is compliant with the guidance given in the ESA 2010 Methodological note (2024 update): International trade by non-resident VAT traders (NR-VATT), DMES/2024/12-06, annex 1. The treatment of non-resident Value Added Tax traders (NR-VATT) in BOP and NA statistics is a crucial aspect of the European Union’s (EU) statistical framework.
