Description
Description | Metro Line 12 in Mexico City was planned to transport 412,000 people/day through 20 stations, from Tlahuac to Mixcoac, connecting with lines 2, 3, 7 and 8. Subway authority STC (Sistema de Transporte Colectivo) held a public tender for the operation of rolling stock. Offers were presented by Alstom, Ansaldo Breda, Bombardier, Norinco, PCZ, CAF and Siemens, after STC invited bids from the world's leading suppliers of rolling stock. Spanish firm CAF was awarded the contract to supply rolling stock to Mexico City's metro line 12 on December 22,2013. STC's acquisitions committee unanimously awarded the contract to CAF, as its proposal met with 99.5% of all technical requirements stipulated in the contract, and also offered the best financing options. CAF was responsible for supplying and maintaining 30 trains for the metro line for a 15-year period through a public service provision (PPS) scheme.Construction of the fixed assets was executed, though an EPC contract, using the synergies of the mexican consortiums ICA-Alstom-CICSA. The contract was worth up to US$1.40 billion (18 billion pesos) plus tax. The first train was provided in August 2011 and the line started operation in October 30, 2012. |
