Metro is seeking a new senior vice president of real estate and development to manage its vast real estate portfolio and help shape development at Metro stations across Greater Washington. The current head, Liz Price, who has led the real estate arm since 2021, is departing as her family is moving to Vienna, Austria. Metro manages about 1,000 acres of real estate across D.C., Maryland, and Virginia, including rail stations, track structures, parking facilities, maintenance facilities, and office buildings. The agency has been involved in delivering more than 55 buildings at 30 Metro stations, totaling 17 million square feet of mixed-use development since 1978. Major transit-oriented projects in progress include large mixed-use developments at the North Bethesda and New Carrollton Metro stations, which would bring a combined 5.5 million square feet of new housing, office, lab, and retail space at full build-out.
