Description

Metro Wind Power Project is a 50MW facility located in the Jhimpir Wind Corridor of the Thatta District, Sindh Province, Pakistan and run by the SPV, Metro Power Company Limited. Metro Power Company Limited is owned by the Iqbal Alimohamed family (%45.1), InfraCo (%45.1), and the IFC (%9.8). The Metro Wind Power Project received a 20yr license from the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority in 2014. Metro Power Company Limited has entered into a 20yr EPA with the National Transmission & Dispatch Company. Metro Wind Power Project reached financial closure in February, 2015. Of the projected $130.16m USD cost, $20.16m USD is to be financed through equity and $110m USD is to be financed through debt. Equity is provided by the Iqbal Alimohamed family ($8.43m USD), InfraCo ($8.43m USD), and the IFC ($3.3m USD). Debt financing is provided by the IFC ($22.5m USD), ECO Trade and Development Bank ($22.5m USD),the National Bank of Pakistan ($16.25m USD), United Bank Limited of Pakistan ($16.25m USD), Askari Bank ($16.25m USD), and Alfalah Bank ($16.25m USD). Metro Wind Power Project is expected to start producing electricity by the end of 2015.
