Description | The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City is set to receive a $25 million LED lighting upgrade involving the installation of nearly 20,000 state-of-the-art sustainable LED light fixtures across its 324 galleries. The project aims to improve visual clarity, preserve the art collection, and maximize energy efficiency to reduce operating and maintenance costs. The New York Power Authority will install the new lighting system, replacing 16 lighting control systems across 2 million square feet. The project is expected to be completed by 2028 and is funded by the Department of Citywide Administrative Services using city capital funding. |
