Description | The Metter–Register Rail Upgrades Project is a $1.4 million federally-supported initiative led by Candler County Industrial Authority and supported by Georgia Southern Railway. The project includes track rehabilitation, grade crossing improvements, culvert upgrades and repairs, and bridge repairs. It aims to improve safety, create jobs, and stimulate economic growth in Candler County by rehabilitating 12.3 miles of rail line, replacing rail ties, resurfacing track, installing rock ballast, improving community crossings, and replacing and protecting bridge components. |
