Mezipatra Queer Film Festival

ended

Mezipatra is the biggest queer film festival in Central and Eastern Europe. The festival focuses on European and non-European films with a distinct artistic vision. It is held annually in two cities—first in Prague and later in Brno. In the 21 years of its existence, Mezipatra has established a major international reputation and a unique program profile. The organisation has made use of its international connections and started one of the first queer film industry weeks in Europe. On the domestic scene, the organisation created the first Czech queer film distribution and it has been called “one of the most interesting distribution projects” by the Czech Film Fund in 2020. Cinema can influence feelings, and therefore also opinions through powerful stories with which a person may identify. Since its beginning, Mezipatra has related to activism and have aimed to cultivate the perception of minorities as an inseparable part of the society, stand for equal rights and against discrimination based on sexual or gender identity. In the times when the anti-LGBT rhetoric is a rising trend across whole Europe, the mission of Mezipatra more important than ever.
