Description
Description | CPM members urged the Trichy corporation to increase the number of micro compost centres (MCCs) in the city. MCCs are a decentralized waste management model that can manage the city's solid waste without the need for new waste management projects, including a poultry waste recycling unit at Ariyamangalam dump yard. Currently, there are 37 MCCs in the city, and CPM advocates for increasing this number to recycle and resell waste generated within respective wards. The local body has spent 75 crore on biomining to retrieve 60% of the Ariyamangalam dump yard, and CPM opposes launching new waste management projects there to avoid defeating the purpose of this investment. |
