microFILM’s slate contains 3 projects: one fiction feature, one documentary feature & one fiction series. AS IF NOTHING HAD HAPPENED is a high-end romance period drama series, created for the screen by Ioana Bogana and Eva Todică, based on Alina Nelega’s novel of the same name, about the forbidden love story between two women during the last decade of the Communist regime in Romania. THE PRICE OF GOLD is Eugen Jebeleanu’s (renowned theater and filmmaker) coming of age, autobiographical drama, set in the 90s in post-Communist Romania, about a teenage competitive dancer discovering and coming to terms with his queerness. YESTERDAY ENDED LAST NIGHT is the debut documentary feature of journalists Delia Marinescu and Oana Țenter, about Christian conservative communities of Romanian-Americans and their political and historical identities. Our objective is to develop these projects up until the point of pre-production: fully developing the scripts and creative materials, participating in development workshops and markets, securing funding for production, setting the co-production structures, completing the creative teams, deciding on the main elements (locations, cast etc) and defining the final budgets. Our overall aim as a company is to increase our development and production capacities to produce more commercial products, as well as expand our reach to the local and international audience pool, beyond arthouse aficionados, and secure partnerships with new co-producers, broadcasters and platforms. Our objective can only be achieved by securing resources not only for production but, even more important, for the meticulous development of these projects, a process that lacks almost any support in our country.
