Description

Description

The DWM (Developing World Markets) Inclusive Finance Equity Fund II is a bi-regional investment fund (Latin America and Asia) with a focus on microfinance institutions and banks with a focus on MSMEs. The fund also targets other inclusive finance institutions such as education and housing finance providers and microinsurance companies in developing and emerging countries. This somewhat broader approach is intended to take the needs of the poor population more comprehensively into account, and the somewhat broader sectoral definition also leads to greater risk diversification. A developmental benefit from participation in financial institutions can be expected through improved efficiency, processes, needs-oriented product development and the further development of the institutions into institutions with deposit business - a core component of the fund manager's strategy. More mature and better positioned institutions that can more comprehensively cover the needs of the poor population are intended to contribute to improving the financial system in the target countries, increasing financial participation and thus to self-help-oriented poverty reduction. The positive development of its predecessor fund, DWM Microfinance Equity Fund, also shows that DWM has good prospects of contributing to the achievement of these goals.
