Description

Description

Large sections of the population in Ghana, particularly rural areas, as well as micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), still have inadequate or no access to formal financial services. The Microfinance Program II comprises two components (i) the establishment of a local currency facility for microfinance institutions (Wholesale Microfinance Facility, WMF), and (ii) participation in a microfinance institution (MFI) - Advans Ghana. The WMF (i) created an investment platform for national and international private and public investors. This enabled the provision of refinancing lines to financial institutions with the aim of supporting their MSME portfolio. The microfinance institution Advans Ghana (ii) aims to give the rural population and micro-enterprises in rural regions access to formal financial services. The aim is to establish best practices in the market and create structural conditions for the development of an efficient and sustainable microfinance sector. Advans Ghana is part of the Advans Group and can benefit from the group's network institutions in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Cameroon, Cambodia, Ghana, Tanzania and Ivory Coast.
