Description | Pakistan Microfinance Investment Company Ltd. (PMIC) is a key institution for microfinance providers in Pakistan. Its goal is to provide financial and institutional services to strengthen and expand access to finance for individuals and small entrepreneurs. This is intended to improve employment and income opportunities for economically disadvantaged citizens and improve their living conditions. PMIC's strategic objectives include innovative support for investors, capacity development for access to commercial credit markets, building a robust financial ecosystem, compliance with ESG guidelines and building a professional organization. The project, supported by KfW, aims to improve access to and financing of renewable energy, especially through solar home systems, to address electricity supply challenges. PMIC has important shareholders such as Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund and Karandaaz Pakistan. KfW has a trust stake and own shares in PMIC and also has seats on the Supervisory Board and the Credit Risk Committee. |
