Description | Hog Lick Aggregates (HLA) is studying the feasibility of developing a microgrid and data center at its 277-acre site near Fairmont, WV, just west of White Hall near the Marion-Harrison county line. The study explores alternative cooling and power methods such as geothermal cooling using water from a nearby shuttered coal mine and locally-sourced natural gas to reduce emissions and pipeline construction. The data center could support the NOAA super-computing site at the I-79 High Tech Park. The project is in early study phases with no set timeframe for development as of May 5, 2026. |
