Microsoft Lease and Expansion of AI Data Center in Narvik, Norway

under construction

Microsoft has agreed to lease the computing capacity of a data center in Narvik, Norway, originally planned for OpenAI as part of the 'Stargate' project. Microsoft will also rent an additional 30,000 NVIDIA VeraRubin chips from Nscale at this campus. This move builds upon Microsoft's prior commitment to invest $6.2 billion in the campus. The project involves building next-generation AI infrastructure with a five-year agreement signed by Microsoft, Nscale, and Aker, valued at up to $6.2 billion. Microsoft is accelerating its data center deployment and has reached multiple partnerships with 'neocloud' providers, including Nscale.
