Description | The Middlepunt solar PV plant is a 337 MWdc photovoltaic facility located near Welkom in the Free State, South Africa. It is part of South Africa's Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme (REIPPPP) and is expected to supply electricity at R458/MWh, making it the cheapest procured under the programme to date. The project has a contracted export capacity of 240 MWac and a 20-year power purchase agreement with the National Transmission Company South Africa. Construction is underway with commercial operation expected within 24 months. |
