Description

Description

The city of North Charleston sold the existing Midland Park Community Center to the Charleston County School District in August 2024 to facilitate rebuilding the adjacent Midland Park Primary School. The city has allocated $1.2 million from the sale for a replacement community center and identified a nearby five-acre property on Orvin Street as the ideal location for the new center. An additional $2 million is needed to complete the project. While construction has not started, the city directed funding toward site work on the new property in April 2026, with plans to begin visible progress soon. The school district's building project is planned to start in 2029, pending voter approval of a penny tax extension in 2026.
