The Microfinance Initiative for Asia Debt Fund (MIFA) is designed to refinance microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Asia and facilitate their access to capital markets. The Fund provides loans with longer maturities and fixed interest options. It supports MFIs in meeting the financing needs of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) and low-income households. This improves economic and social conditions by promoting income, employment and growth, contributes to poverty reduction and stabilizes financial systems. In line with the objectives of the MIFA initiative, the Fund supports commercially sustainable MFIs in providing microfinance products to underserved populations in Asia.
