Project Overview: The project has five objectives. In the context of British exit from the EU, (1) research will be conducted on the profile, cross border dynamics, issues impeding labour market integration of BME workers in the agricultural, food processing and services sectors in Donegal/Derry, Cavan/Armagh, Monaghan /Newry-Down.1025 BME workers and 90 employers from the PULCRN communities will participate. The results will be widely distributed. (2) A new model of labour market integration will be developed and delivered in six border counties increasing capacity of 1,025 BME workers to secure their labour rights, enhanced capacity and leadership skills of 200 BMEs and on-going and 9 specific opportunities for meaningful and sustained contact between 200 BMEs and 140-200 people from PULCRN communities. (3) A range of interagency and multi-stakeholder actions will be delivered to over 590 people from the whole community to promote the model and mainstreaming. (4) Dissemination of the model at a local, regional, National and EU level to over 5,000 people through effective communication, networking, seminars and All Island Conference will be achieved. (5) Increased collaboration and meaningful cross border partnerships will also be achieved in the implementation of this regional project. This work will meet all of the Peace IV Programme results. Strategic Policy & Context: This project operates across a range of cross cutting and mutually reinforcing policy contexts. The project is driven by the objectives of PEACE IV. The political context because of the British Exit from the EU however creates the overarching framework in which this project will operate in both jurisdictions. Reference is made to relevant policies and strategies within Europe, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland as the project overlaps with them.
