Investing in the skills of young people is very important to fight unemployment, to foster democracy and to ensure a stable, tolerant and prosperous society. However, the long-term impact of trainings and nonformal education programmes for young people and youth workers is thwarted, because the commitment of the participants ends upon completion. The young peoples’ learning experience must be enhanced and extended by identifying their needs and requirements and implementing development plans for lifelonglearning activities. With the support of START, a study was established which provides a detailed assessment of young people’s needs in relation to lifelong learning. It serves as a baseline for other organisations which work in a similar field. A partner and expert meeting was organised to strengthen cooperation in the thematic field; concrete project proposals for future funding were elaborated.
