Description

Description

Karjat Jamkhed Region in Ahmednagar District of Maharashtra is a drought prone area. The variation in agricultural yield of this area is very limited which has reflected in very negligible growth of the region. However, this region is suitable for the growth of millet crops like Jowar and Bajara. Recently, demand from consumers for healthy snacks has been observed constantly. Considering the fact, this social business proposal focuses on processing of millets to turn them into delicious healthy snacks and selling them in metropolitans. This project has been designed for three main beneficiaries, the farmers, who will form the FPOs for production of raw materials [millets]- the Women through their self-help groups will process the produce- and a homogeneous body of trained and skilled unemployed workforce of women and men looking after marketing of the processed snacks. With help of trainings, mentoring and management support from AIC-ADT Baramati Foundation, this startup will be converted into a popular healthy snacks brand who will donate 40 to 50percentage of its net profit for the village development through Gram Panchayat and Panchayat Samitis in locality. To start with, the project will require funding for processing setup and to cover the operational costs. Different Trainings for product development, marketing, branding will be needed. The FPOs and SHGs can benefit through different schemes of government. The donation money will be largely utilized for development and up gradation of schools and health facilities which are lacking in the region and are serious necessities at the moment.
