Description | The Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD) is fast-tracking four flood basin projects to increase floodwater storage capacity by storing water in parks and open areas instead of homes and streets. The projects involve converting Jackson Park into a flood management basin, removing concrete culverts along the Kinnickinnic River to allow natural water spread, and building basins in Jackson Park, north of 35th and Capitol, Wilson Park, and near Alro Steel at Sixth and Bolivar. These projects aim to add about 200 million gallons of storage and nearly double MMSD's floodwater storage capacity. |
