Mini Slate Proposal from Falkun Films (Malta)

ongoing

By virtue of this proposal, Falkun Films is submitting two features, one series and a short film, in our endevour to build our first slate. With each project we are seeking to nurture talent of promising film-makers, and foster working relationships with producers from other countries. Over the past few years, Falkun has been involved in three co-productions, one as delegate producer. Creating our own slate is a natural next step for the company. With a strong background in physical production, creating our own films is essential to the growth of the company. In turn by collaborating with producers who have access to larger markets and have stronger structures in place, we will be widening the scope of the projects by enhancing their respective quality and reaching out to wider audiences. The projects we have selected are diverse from each other but have one common element, in that they are all universal in nature. This should give them broader appeal within Europe and beyond. The Mini-Slate support is essential to strengthen our company as it will give us the chance to create new opportunities, helping us build on relationships with producers in other countries and also improve access to high-end financing and distribution channels. It would be fundamental in not only supporting the development of our slate but also in nurturing individual film-makers and increasing the output of Maltese film on the European and international market, offering a fresh take on stories, from a country whose stories and story-tellers have not yet been established on an international scale. In essence the impact of the slate support for our company such us ours cannot be underestimated.
