Description

Description

The Minim Martap bauxite project in Cameroon's Adamawa region involves the delivery and commissioning of locomotives and rail wagons to enable ore evacuation via rail infrastructure. The project targets an annual production capacity of 10 million metric tonnes of bauxite, relying heavily on rail transport from the landlocked mine site to the Port of Douala. The project includes procurement of 22 diesel locomotives from CRRC Ziyang (China) and 560 open rail wagons from Texmaco Rail & Engineering (India), with an option for an additional 1,040 wagons. The first batch of 7 locomotives is expected at the Port of Douala by the end of June 2026, followed by wagon deliveries in July 2026, trial mining operations, and first bauxite shipment targeted for late Q3 2026. The project has committed approximately USD 316.6 million towards railway equipment acquisition, representing about 70% of the total rail budget and a significant portion of the total project investment of USD 446 million.
