Information Central Railway has come up with Miraj Chord Line with a ticket size of 128.78 INR Crores. This project in Railway Track sub-sector involves The current status of the project is Not Applicable Economic/Social Impact of the Project Existing Scenario 1.Trains from Londa Jn to Kolhapur or to Pandharpur have to compulsorily enter Miraj Jn, undergo Engine reversal at Miraj Jn. 2. Trains from Kolhapur to Londa Jn or to Pandharpur have to compulsorily enter Miraj Jn, undergo Engine reversal at Miraj Jn. 3. Trains from Pandharpur to Kolhapur or to Londa Jn have to compulsorily enter Miraj Jn, undergo Engine reversal at Miraj Jn This leads to Detention of these Trains at Miraj Jn and other Trains of PA MRJ as well as LN MRJ in their respective Sections. This is apart from the undesirable, infructuous and chaotic Line occupancy at Miraj Jn. The approximate Detention of Coaching trains crisscrossing Miraj Jn is 1 hour per Train while the approximate Detention time of crisscrossing Goods trains is 1.5 hrs for each Train. The necessity of Chord Lines bypassing the Miraj Jn is justified in view of the enormous losses to the Indian Railway on account of Detention to trains, loss of man-hours of the travelling public and losses to the Industries that rely on Indian Railways for efficient transportation of their Goods. The Miraj Kolhapur, Miraj Hubballi and Miraj Pandharpur Sections are proposed to be connected by a Single Line BG Electrified Chord Line for each corridor of cumulative length 1.735 kms. The proposed Chord Lines will take off from the proposed Doubling Line on the Miraj Kolhapur Section approximately 1.4 kms away from Miraj and enter the New Miraj Station at 0.9 kms.
