Description | The Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) is studying 15 power projects for accelerated interconnection to the grid to help avoid a potential supply crunch due to surging demand from AI data centers. The projects include more than 6,100 MW of generating capacity across MISO's 14-state footprint, with two-thirds being natural gas plants and the rest renewable energy and battery storage projects. The aim is to have these projects begin operation as soon as two years from now to keep pace with demand growth. |
