Description | The Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) received 47 applications totaling 26.6 GW for its Expedited Resource Addition Study (ERAS), a fast-track interconnection review process designed to bring power supplies online quickly to meet near-term grid needs. The proposals include about 19.7 GW of gas-fired projects, 4 GW of storage, and a 675-MW nuclear project in Iowa. The ERAS process allows eligible planned resources to bypass MISO's standard interconnection queue reviews and aims to address localized and accelerating demand growth with projects that can come online in three to six years. MISO will study up to 10 projects per quarter, with the first quarterly study beginning on September 2, 2025, and the program ending on August 31, 2027. |
