MiWay Bus Garages: Modifications for Electric Buses

The project will support the design and implementation of modifications to bus storage and maintenance garages to accommodate the addition of battery electric buses to the public transit fleet in Mississauga, Ontario. The scope of work involves two phases. Phase 1 will design modifications for one garage site, including a bus storage building and a maintenance building. Phase 2 will convert two maintenance garages for battery electric buses and modify a central annex garage to include 12 pantograph chargers and two plug-in chargers in the deep clean bus wash area, and convert two existing bus bays to allow storage for 12 battery electric buses. In addition, two plug-in chargers, charging cabinets and an on-site transformer and battery energy storage system will be installed where required. The project will improve asset management, operations and maintenance of battery electric buses, and contribute to the Ultimate Recipient’s electrification strategy aimed at achieving a zero-emission fleet.
