Description | The Mkuju River uranium project in south-east Tanzania involves the development of the Nyota deposit, one of the largest uranium deposits in the world. A pilot uranium processing plant was commissioned in 2025 for pilot mining and processing, testing technological solutions, and training personnel. Preparatory activities for the main industrial complex, including infrastructure like roads and utility networks, are underway. The main mining and processing complex construction is scheduled to start in 2026 with commissioning planned for 2029. The project aims to produce up to 3,000 tonnes of uranium annually and is expected to significantly contribute to Tanzania's socio-economic and technological development. |
